Born on 07th February, Ruby Mohan is a poet, author, educator, and entrepreneur. Her father, Chandra Prakash, was an Army Officer. Her mother, SwarnKanta, is a postgraduate in Sociology from the University of Poona. Her elder brother, Manu, shares a close bond with her.
Ruby recalls she wrote her first poem in the fourth grade. She credits her mother and her teacher, Mrs. Vijayan, at St. Joseph’s Convent Girls’ S. S. School, Jabalpur, for actively encouraging her creative spark. Leading newspapers have published her articles and poems. Currently, with more than fourteen books in print, her work has received international acclaim.
Ruby holds two bachelor’s degrees in Zoology and Education. She did her postgraduate degree in Genetics from the University of Poona. After her postgraduation, Ruby did a short stint working for a leading newspaper daily. In the States, Ruby co-founded and has worked for three business start-ups in various capacities. She particularly enjoys writing about women in STEM.
She married Deepak Datta in 1996. They have three children. Their “high energy” family includes two golden retreivers.
When she is not writing, Ruby dabbles in oil painting. She loves to travel. So the chances are bright that you may bump into her at an airport. Even when masked, she is easy to recognize from her brisk walk. A woman chasing dreams seldom stops to ask for directions.
